Reports to: General Manager

 

Objective

Servers are responsible for providing guests with a positive & memorable experience through excellent product knowledge, strong salesmanship skills, attention to detail, sharp personal appearance and a positive attitude.  The Server will be required to interact with guests and assist in their service within many contexts: celebrations, business meetings, small and large parties, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup, breakdown and cleaning of all applicable areas.
  • Stocking applicable supplies and equipment.
  • Use ALOHA POS to enter all orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain awareness of guest’s alcohol consumption levels in accordance with established Alcohol Awareness Training Guidelines.
  • Practice efficient and timely “cash out” and change transactions.
  • Practice proper and safe food handling, personal hygiene, storage, receiving, stocking and rotating procedures.
  • Communicate all guest allergies and/or aversions to management and kitchen.
  • Develop and maintain positive and lasting guest relationships.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate in English.
  • Able to interact verbally in a professional manner with other BOH/FOH positions.
  • Meets all Chapel Grille & Health Department standards for safe food handling and storage.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of equipment, including but not limited to: Knives, POS Systems, Coffee and Tea Brewers, Espresso Machines, Ice Machines and Glass Washers.
  • The ability to work quickly, cleanly and to consolidate work tickets is necessary.
  • Flexible in performing other related tasks designated from the management.
  • Speed, efficiency and mental strength are required for this fast paced restaurant.
  • Requires experience as a Food Runner, Bartender or Server.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Works closely with other staff members, often in confined areas.
  • Lifts and carries trays, boxes and product up to 50 lbs. from floor to above waist level, sometimes involving stairs.
  • Stands or walks during the entire 8-10 hour shift.
  • Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts, burns, slips, trips and falls.
  • Able to reach above head and stoop to put items on the floor or low shelves.
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Able to work at approx. 36” table/stove and reach in approx. 36”.
  • Must reach (6’ to overhead), bend, stoop and wipe.
  • Must wear shoes with non-slip soles.

Standards of Performance

  • Performs job at a continuously high pace, under pressure, while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
  • Explains and markets all menu items with superb product knowledge and sincerity.
  • Upsells appetizers, desserts, and drinks to enhance the guests’ dining experience and generate additional revenue.
  • Manages flow of orders entered into the POS to prevent order backlogs in the kitchen.
  • Enters orders into the POS accurately to avoid mistakes and confusion in the kitchen.
  • Ensures all allergies are noted clearly on the kitchen tickets and verifies food is prepared accordingly prior to serving to guests.
  • Processes all cash, credit card and gift certificate transactions in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Manages flow of service to each table to address guests’ needs and deliver an exceptional dining experience (i.e.: drink service, taking orders, food delivery, accuracy of orders, etc.)
  • Marks table appropriately prior to each course and ensures dishes for completed courses are cleared promptly.
